Sassuolo. Giovanni Carnevali, Sassuolo's CEO, celebrates 12 years of adventure with the Neroverdi. His story has been marked by successes and challenges, but his passion for football has remained constant. "We met while I was working at Master Group Sport, my sports events company. When Sassuolo won Serie B, Dr. Adriana Spazzoli, wife of Dr. Giorgio Squinzi, asked us for a marketing project for what could be Sassuolo. We presented a project and they were enthusiastic. There was what could become Sassuolo in the years to come, a broader vision. After accepting the project, Dr. Spazzoli asked me if I felt like taking over Sassuolo Calcio. My first answer was no thanks, but saying no to her and Dr. Squinzi was impossible. I felt very tied to them. These are the words repeated over the years by Giovanni Carnevali to tell, as he liked to do, of the deep bond that unites him to the Squinzi family, and how that bond has pushed him to return to the world of football. "Their insistence intrigued me and I decided to go to Sassuolo. I'll be sincere, I didn't even know where it was, I put the GPS. The headquarters was at 'Ricci', there were two or three employees, there was nothing. But I knew the ownership, I knew they would make me work and, since there was a lot to do, I took it as a great challenge. I started with great enthusiasm and made the right choice. Until that moment the future CEO of Juventus, after starting his career as a director in Milanese, where he met Giuseppe Marotta and Ariedo Braida in 1982, and continued in Monza, Pavia, Como and Ravenna, had dedicated himself definitively to his entrepreneurial activity. From that June 2014, however, the history of the Neroverdi club changed: 11 consecutive seasons in Serie A, of which 10 with him in charge, interrupted by a single setback, the relegation of 2023/2024, immediately redeemed at the first attempt. And Sassuolo has never stopped growing, first with the acquisition of Mapei Stadium, then with the construction of Mapei Football Center, one of the most beautiful and avant-garde sports centers in Italy. Otherwise, the goal has always been to be a model of efficiency and solidity of the society, succeeding in bringing forward the sporting results and the development of the club. The highest point of his experience at Sassuolo remains the qualification for the 2022 Europa League.
